Overview

This workshop is premised on Ruskin Bond’s “The Cherry Tree”
Building nature consciousness through Nature writing.

– After brief guidance and with a well-thought-flexible framework, the students will complete a sensory writing activity.
– The children will make their own poetic phrases (learn new words and construct creative phrases in the process).
– They will paint their poems and create crafts (with ingredients picked up during nature walk)
– The session will end with an opportunity for students to share their writing with others.

In this program, they will

Language Art:

– They will learn how to effectively use words and techniques to build new words.
– They will learn to ideate, connect dots and collate their thoughts through a creative narrative
– They will learn to express their feelings by writing poems and exploring the language with fun.

Nature Science:

– They will learn to notice small things around in nature
– They will imbibe the essence of a plant life cycle and learn how to respect nature’s timing.
– Nomenclature of a few indigenous plants and their characteristics.

Fine Arts Expression:

– They will interrelate and extend their learning to creative illustrations and craft work.

Culmination:

– A showcasing of their creative work.

Materials needed:

– A colourful scrap book
– A notebook to write
– Stationaries (Pencil, eraser, ruler)
– Art resources (crayons, paints, brush pen, scissors, threads to tie and glue)

Venue: Treasure Trove Library, Nr Woodstock Floors, Sec 50, Gurgaon.

Treasure Trove is a physical and online library for children. Creating and nurturing readers since 2010.
